Embroidery
Embroidery brings new challenges and space for individuality in each project. Children in third grade and up now have a deeper and more lively interest in their work; it is a year for amazing beauty and for overcoming challenges. Children are introduced to using a sharp needle, many color choices, embroidery stitches, and design. Each child learns 5-10 different types of stitches and their uses. These stitches start out simple and then develop into complex stitching and patterns that require focus and precision. They learn to create beautiful and practical things such as a treasure mat, bookmarks, needle book, and they end the year with designing and embroidering their own handwork bag.
